1. Content Creation

All content on Rate My Decks is created by experienced Magic: The Gathering players who actively play Commander. Our guides, articles, and analysis are based on real gameplay experience, community data, and official card information.

Every article undergoes review before publication to ensure accuracy, clarity, and relevance to the Commander format. We prioritize practical advice that players can apply immediately to their decks.

2. Data Sources

Card data is sourced from the Scryfall API, a comprehensive and community-maintained Magic: The Gathering database. Combo data comes from Commander Spellbook, the official combo database for Commander format.

Deck popularity data for the Deck Builder is sourced from EDHRec, which aggregates data from thousands of community-submitted decks. Staple suggestions and commander statistics are derived from this aggregated data.

Power score calculations use a deterministic heuristic system based on 12 weighted factors. The algorithm is transparent and documented in our Methodology page.

3. Analysis Methodology

Our deck analysis is entirely heuristic and deterministic. We do not use AI or machine learning to generate recommendations. Every strength, weakness, and recommendation is produced by rule-based logic that can be traced back to specific card properties and deck metrics.

The power score (1-10) is calculated from 12 factors: premium fast mana, common fast mana, tutors, interaction, combo pressure, extra turns, mana efficiency, ramp quality, draw quality, curve health, land base quality, commander synergy, and game changers. Each factor has a documented weight and maximum contribution.

Bracket classification (1-5) is derived from the power score and adjusted based on game changer count, fast mana density, and combo signals. The bracket system aligns with the official Commander bracket guidelines from Wizards of the Coast.

4. Corrections and Updates

We regularly review our content for accuracy. If you find an error in our guides, articles, or analysis, please contact us at ratemydecks@protonmail.com. We appreciate community feedback and will correct mistakes promptly.

Card categorizations (ramp, draw, removal, tutors, etc.) are based on card text analysis and community consensus. If a card is miscategorized, let us know and we will review it.

The Game Changers list is based on the official list published by Wizards of the Coast. When the official list is updated, we update our system accordingly.

5. Affiliate Disclosure

Rate My Decks contains affiliate links to TCGPlayer and other retailers. When you click these links and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. This helps support the site and keeps it free for everyone.

Affiliate links do not influence our analysis or recommendations. We recommend cards based on their actual performance and synergy with your deck, not on affiliate revenue.

Rate My Decks displays advertisements through Google AdSense. These ads are served based on your cookie preferences and may be personalized. You can manage your cookie preferences at any time through our cookie consent banner.

Advertising does not influence our content, analysis, or recommendations. Our editorial integrity is independent of advertising revenue.
